Trump Announces Iran Agreement as Geneva Set to Host Historic Peace Signing

In a major development that could ease global tensions, the United States and Iran have agreed to end their conflict and move forward with a peace agreement. US President Donald Trump announced the breakthrough on social media, stating that the agreement with Iran had now been finalized. Iran also confirmed the development through an official statement, saying that after months of lengthy and complex negotiations with the United States, both countries had finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step toward restoring peace. President Trump further announced that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz would be reopened under the terms of the agreement. He also approved the immediate removal of the US naval blockade around Iranian ports. In a social media post, Trump wrote, "Ships of the world, start your engines and let the oil flow." According to information shared by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the two countries are expected to formally sign the historic peace agreement in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 19. If the signing takes place as scheduled, it will mark the highest-level direct meeting between Tehran and Washington in the past 47 years, drawing significant international attention. Iran's Three Key Conditions Although the complete details of the agreement have not yet been made public, Iranian media reports indicate that the Memorandum of Understanding includes provisions related to ending hostilities, lifting the blockade on Iranian ports, and restoring Iran's frozen financial assets. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that negotiations over the next 60 days would move forward only if the United States first fulfills three key conditions. These include ending the blockade, halting military operations, and releasing Iran's frozen funds.
