Patiala Track Blast: Accused Dies in Explosion, Forensic Probe Underway

A blast occurred on the Shambhu–Ambala railway route near Patiala on Monday night, damaging a section of the railway track. According to officials, the explosion took place at around 10 PM near Shambhu, disrupting rail movement temporarily. The impact of the blast caused significant damage to the railway infrastructure. A portion of the track was broken, and the stone slab between the rails was shattered. Following the incident, railway authorities suspended train services on the affected route. However, the damaged track was repaired, and train operations were restored by Tuesday morning. During the investigation, authorities recovered parts of a human torso from the railway track, indicating that a person was killed in the explosion. According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Jagrup Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district. Reports suggest that his body was severely mutilated in the blast, with only the torso remaining intact. His identity was reportedly confirmed through a mobile phone that survived the explosion. Police suspect that the individual died while attempting to carry out the blast. A forensic team from Patiala reached the site around 12:30 AM, collected samples, and sent them to a laboratory for further analysis. Officials stated that the suspects involved in the incident have been traced, and further details are expected to be revealed by Varun Sharma during a press conference. Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased has been taken into custody for questioning, although his role in the incident remains unclear. The Railway Police have registered a case against unidentified persons under Section 150 of the Railway Act and Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
