International Flights Resume at Tehran Airport Amid Iran-US Tensions
In a significant development amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, international flight operations have resumed at Tehran’s airport, offering a sense of relief to travelers and signaling a possible easing of regional strain. The move comes as both countries are expected to hold peace talks soon in Islamabad, Pakistan. The upcoming dialogue has raised global expectations, particularly as the dual blockade imposed by Iran and the United States in the Strait of Hormuz has significantly impacted the global economy. According to available information, Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport restarted select international flight operations on Saturday morning. Airport authorities confirmed that the first outbound flights departed for Muscat in Oman, Istanbul in Turkey, and Medina in Saudi Arabia. The resumption of flights is being seen as a positive step, especially after a prolonged suspension of civil aviation services due to the conflict that began two months ago. The reopening has brought considerable relief to stranded passengers, and officials anticipate a gradual normalization of operations in the coming days. Earlier this week, flight services were also restored at Mashhad Airport, located in Iran’s northeastern region and the country’s second-largest city. With these developments, air travel services across parts of Iran are gradually being reinstated.
