Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Monday said he held a productive meeting with Greece's Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos to further strengthen the economic partnership between India and Greece. In a post on X, Goyal said the discussions also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in manufacturing, startups, and emerging technologies to promote shared prosperity for both countries. The minister added that the talks focused on strengthening the India-Greece economic partnership through increased trade, investment, industrial collaboration, and resilient supply chains. According to an official statement released on Sunday, Goyal is leading a high-level Indian business delegation in Greece with the objective of expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment flows, and enhancing strategic economic cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, the delegation will participate in presentations and startup pitches at the Athens Startup Business Incubator (THEA). The event will provide a platform to showcase next-generation enterprises and encourage cross-border innovation partnerships. The delegation will also take part in roundtable discussions with Indian and Greek industry leaders at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). The discussions will cover key sectors including infrastructure, digitalisation, defence, food, and agriculture, with the aim of identifying new avenues for cooperation and strengthening private-sector partnerships. The official statement said the visit will conclude with engagements involving key business and institutional stakeholders to deepen industry collaboration and expand bilateral commercial relations between India and Greece. Last week, Goyal successfully concluded his three-day visit to the United Kingdom, where the event titled 'India-UK: Partners in Progress – Trade Prosperity' was held in London. The engagement highlighted the strong momentum in bilateral economic relations, with leading industry stakeholders from both countries expressing firm support for the proposed Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as a transformative framework for strengthening trade and investment ties. According to the official statement, the minister's engagements in the United Kingdom, followed by his ongoing visit to Greece, reflect the Government of India's continued commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthening global economic partnerships, promoting innovation-led growth, and advancing India's trade and investment diplomacy across key international markets.
