Ferozepur Marks International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm and Leadership

Ferozepur :On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, a district-level yoga event was organised at Cantonment Stadium, Ferozepur Cantt, under the "CM di Yogshala" initiative. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasised holistic well-being and environmental harmony through the practice of yoga.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of over 500 individuals, including special guests: MLA from Guru Har Sahai, S. Fauja Singh Sarari; Deputy Commissioner Deeptishikha Sharma; Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gossal (wife of MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar), Coordinator of the Drug-Free Campaign for Ferozepur City. They joined citizens in practicing various yoga asanas.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sarari highlighted that the stress of modern life often leads to mental and physical ailments, and by the time people realise the importance of health, it is often too late. He urged everyone to dedicate time daily to yoga and exercise to stay physically and mentally fit. He lauded the initiative of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, under which free yoga classes are being held in every district through the "CM di Yogshala" programme.
Deputy Commissioner Sharma stressed the need to adopt healthier food habits along with yoga to prevent lifestyle diseases. She mentioned that yoga not only improves physical fitness but also brings mental peace, alertness, and a refreshed spirit throughout the day.
Highlighting the importance of this year’s theme, she said linking yoga with the environment sends a strong message of collective well-being. The slogan "One Earth, One Health" reinforces the connection between human health and the planet.
Renowned yoga expert Pramod Monga explained various asanas, their significance, and how they support physical, mental, and spiritual health through practices like pranayama and meditation.
During the event, saplings were presented to the chief guests as a gesture of respect, along with an appeal to plant more trees to protect the environment.
Prominent attendees included SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, IAS trainee Miss Lindhiya, SDM Gurmeet Singh Mann, Assistant Commissioner Harjot Kaur, SP Naveen Kumar, Market Committee Chairman Balraj Singh Katora, Deputy DEO Dr. Satinder Singh, District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr. Rupinder Deep Singh, Dr. Gurmej Ram Guraia, District Yoga Coordinator Amanpreet Kaur, trainers Navneesh Kamboj, Parvinder Singh, Pooran Singh, and Baljinder Singh, along with hundreds of participants from across the district.
