Gurdaspur (Punjab) : In celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day, a mass yoga session was successfully held on June 21, 2025, at the Sector Headquarters (SHQ) of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Gurdaspur.
The event, conducted from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM, witnessed active and spirited participation from around 150 BSF personnel, including several retired members from the region.
Organized under the aegis of SHQ BSF Gurdaspur, the session aimed to foster awareness around physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health among BSF personnel, who often operate in high-pressure environments.
The event was graced by Jaswinder Kumar Birdi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), BSF Gurdaspur, accompanied by senior staff officers and officials.
During his media interaction, DIG Birdi emphasized the significance of yoga in strengthening emotional resilience, sharpening mental focus, and enhancing physical endurance—traits crucial for BSF jawans.
“Yoga is not merely a physical activity, but a powerful discipline that builds clarity reduces stress, and boosts readiness. I urge all ranks to make it part of their daily routine,” he remarked. Neel Birdi, wife of DIG SHQ Gurdaspur, also addressed the gathering and appreciated BSF's wellness efforts.
“Yoga is a gift to oneself—it balances the body and mind. Practicing even a few minutes each day can bring immense peace and positively impact family life,” she said, encouraging families of personnel to integrate yoga into their lifestyles.
The event concluded on a high note, with a collective commitment from all participants to continue practicing yoga regularly, upholding the BSF’s core values of discipline, wellness, and inner harmony.
