Special Health Campaigns to Combat Disease and Diabetes in Ferozepur

Ferozepur : To review the progress of various national health programmes, of the District Health Society meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Deepshikha Sharma. The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, senior medical officers, programme officers from various departments, and representatives of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
During the meeting, programme officers presented detailed updates on their respective targets and achievements. Discussions covered key initiatives like ANC check-ups, immunization, National TB Control Programme, HIV/AIDS, leprosy, UDID, school health programmes, blindness control, IDSP, and vector-borne disease control.
DC directed all programme officers to ensure 100% implementation of government health schemes at the grassroots level, especially in rural areas, to maximize public benefit. She emphasized the need to provide complete maternal and child healthcare services and ensure higher rates of institutional deliveries in government hospitals. Special immunization camps will be organized so that no child is left out of vaccination.
She also announced the launch of a ‘Sugar-Free Campaign’ in schools after they reopen, aiming to raise awareness among students about non-communicable diseases like diabetes through awareness seminars.
As part of the district's anti-drug drive, the DC said all possible efforts are being made to treat drug-affected individuals. Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur added that a special campaign to prevent diarrhea will be conducted from July 1 to August 31, where ASHA workers will distribute ORS and zinc packets door-to-door and establish ORS-Zinc Corners at health institutions and anganwadi centers. Students will also be educated on hygiene and proper handwashing practices.
WHO Medical Officer Dr. Megha Prakash shared detailed information about the elimination of measles and rubella among children. Prominent attendees included SP Manjit Singh, Deputy DEO (Sec.) Dr. Satinder Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakkar, District Immunization Officer Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, and District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Mandeep, along with SMOs from across the district.
