CJP Protest Restarts at Jantar Mantar Amid Allegations Against Delhi Police

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) resumed its protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar at around 11 p.m. on Monday after a day marked by clashes with security forces. Party workers and supporters returned to the protest site, set up a stage, and restarted their demonstration late in the night. Earlier in the day, CJP supporters made several attempts to march towards Parliament from morning until evening. Security personnel stopped the march, using baton charges and tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Despite the police action, the protesters regrouped and returned to Jantar Mantar to continue their agitation. According to available information, CJP workers and supporters gathered once again at the protest venue and resumed their demonstration. A large number of young people also joined the protest as they headed towards Jantar Mantar. The party alleged that Delhi Police removed the protesters' tents and assaulted demonstrators during the operation. Over 118 Police Personnel Injured, Around 70 Protesters Detained Delhi Police stated that violence broke out during the CJP's "Parliament Chalo" protest, leaving more than 118 police personnel, including several senior officers, injured. Police also confirmed that around 70 protesters were taken into custody. In an official statement, Delhi Police accused the protesters of engaging in disorderly, aggressive and violent behaviour during the demonstration. The statement alleged that protesters attacked security personnel, damaged public property, including government vehicles, and created a serious law-and-order situation. Police Allege Attack on Personnel and Public Property According to the police statement, protesters ignored repeated warnings and lawful directions to disperse from the New Delhi area. Officials claimed that demonstrators deliberately violated police instructions and refused to leave the protest site. Police further alleged that protesters pelted stones at security personnel, attempted to break police barricades, vandalised police and other government vehicles, and caused extensive damage to public property. The authorities said these actions posed a serious threat to public order, existing security arrangements, and the safety of police personnel performing their official duties. Senior Officers Among the Injured Police said the injured personnel include officers of the ranks of Special Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, as well as several women police personnel. Around 60 Protesters Also Reportedly Injured Reports indicate that around 60 protesters were also injured during the clashes. Police said the remaining injured personnel are undergoing Medico-Legal Examination (MLC) as part of the investigation. Government Vehicles Damaged Delhi Police also stated that the violent crowd caused significant damage to public property. According to the statement, approximately 15 to 20 government vehicles, along with other government property, were vandalised during the incident.
