Abohar Mayor Election to Be Held Today Following High Court Directions

The election for the Mayor of the Abohar Municipal Corporation will be held on Tuesday following directions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The district administration and police have completed all necessary arrangements for the election, while security has been strengthened to ensure the process is conducted smoothly. Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu said that the mayoral election will take place on Tuesday, July 21, at her office in Fazilka. She added that extensive preparations have been made to ensure the successful conduct of the election. The Deputy Commissioner also announced that, due to the election process, two Seva Kendras and one Fard Kendra in Fazilka city will remain closed on July 21, 2026. One of the Seva Kendras is located adjacent to the SDM Office, while the other operates from the Municipal Committee premises. She further stated that the election will be conducted under the supervision of Senior Advocate Sandeep Goyal, who has been appointed as the observer by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to the district administration, all required arrangements have been put in place to ensure the mayoral election is carried out in an orderly and transparent manner.
