Direct air connectivity between Chandigarh and Sharjah is set to resume on October 26 after a three-year gap. Operating out of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, the restored service comes just ahead of the festive season, offering residents of the Tricity area an additional direct air route to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The non-stop service will be operated by Air India Express four days a week—Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight is scheduled to depart from Chandigarh at 1:50 PM and arrive in Sharjah at 4:50 PM. The return flight will leave Sharjah at 5:50 PM, landing in Chandigarh at 11:05 PM. A one-way ticket from Chandigarh to Sharjah is expected to cost approximately ₹18,000, while return fares are reported to be higher. Operations on this route were previously suspended on October 27, 2023. At that time, the flight ran three days a week using 180-seater aircraft. Following the suspension, passengers and local stakeholders maintained a consistent demand for the resumption of direct flights between Chandigarh and Sharjah. With the revival of the Sharjah route, Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport will now offer three direct international destinations. The Air India Express service joins IndiGo's existing operations connecting Chandigarh to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
