Ramayana Part 1 Creates Box Office History, Earns Rs 155 Crore Worldwide on Opening Day

The much-awaited mythological epic Ramayana: Part One has made a spectacular debut at the global box office, collecting Rs 155 crore in gross revenue on its opening day. The film's producers announced the impressive figures on Friday, November 6.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film was released worldwide on November 5. Featuring a star-studded cast, it sees Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi portraying Sita, Yash appearing as Ravana and Ravi Dubey taking on the role of Lakshman.

According to a press statement issued by the producers, Ramayana: Part One has registered the biggest pre-Diwali opening in the history of Indian cinema. The film's first-day worldwide gross collection of Rs 155 crore has set a new benchmark for releases during the period leading up to the festival.

The producers credited the film's strong opening to the overwhelming response from audiences across different markets. They noted that cinema attendance generally tends to remain relatively low in the days before Diwali, as people are occupied with festive preparations and travel.

However, Ramayana: Part One witnessed a strong turnout from the morning shows onwards, with theatres reporting a significant audience presence despite the festive-season circumstances.

The film is the first instalment of a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana. It has been produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash's Monster Mind Creations.

With an impressive opening-day collection of Rs 155 crore worldwide, the film has made a remarkable start at the box office and emerged as one of the biggest pre-Diwali theatrical openings in Indian cinema.
