Bomb Threat Raises Security Concerns at Haryana Secretariat and Chief Minister’s Residence

Chandigarh : A major security scare unfolded in Chandigarh on Friday morning after an anonymous bomb threat targeted the Haryana Secretariat and the official residence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The caller claimed that IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) had been planted at both locations.

As a precaution, both the Secretariat and CM residence were immediately evacuated, and high-level security teams rushed to the spots. Personnel from the Haryana Police, CISF, CID, Chandigarh Police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad initiated a full-scale search operation.

Due to the holiday marking the birth anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the Secretariat saw reduced footfall, helping avoid potential chaos and ensuring a smooth evacuation.

Fire tenders from the Chandigarh Fire Brigade were also deployed on-site as a preventive measure.Security forces also evacuated and began searching the Chief Minister’s residence.

This is not the first such threat in the region. Recently, Fatehabad’s Mini Secretariat and the Punjab & Haryana High Court had also received similar bomb threats. In those cases, no explosives were found.

Currently, security agencies are working to verify the authenticity of the call, and search operations are still ongoing at both high-security locations.
