A minor fire broke out on the rooftop of North Block located on Raisina Hill in New Delhi on Monday morning, triggering a swift response from emergency authorities. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) dispatched six fire tenders to the scene after dense black smoke was observed rising from the complex. The situation was promptly brought under control, with officials confirming no casualties or injuries. According to the Delhi Fire Service, the incident occurred while dismantling and welding work was underway on the premises. A short circuit in an air conditioning boiler installed on the roof triggered the localized blaze, which subsequently caused thick smoke to swell into the air. The visible column of smoke, seen from a considerable distance, led to temporary concern across the surrounding high-security zone. Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora noted the incident while commuting toward Parliament, posting on X (formerly Twitter) that he observed heavy smoke rising from behind North Block and expressed hope for everyone's safety. Firefighters managed to fully extinguish the flames shortly after arrival, preventing any spread to other sections of the building. In an official statement, the DFS confirmed that the fire was minor, the situation remained entirely under control, and no loss of life or injury was reported.
