Punjabi lyricist and writer Gill Ronta, who recently joined Akali Dal Waris Punjab, has started his political activities by organising a gathering in Kotha Guru village of the Rampura Phul Assembly constituency.
Kotha Guru is also the native village of Gill Ronta’s in-laws.
Addressing the gathering, Gill Ronta said that Waris Punjab was concerned about curbing drug abuse and improving the situation in the state. He appealed to people to support Waris Punjab in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, saying this was necessary to save Punjab.
Ronta also alleged that other political parties were using the issue of drugs for political purposes. Referring to Amritpal Singh, he said that while promoting Sikhism, Amritpal Singh had brought a large number of young people closer to the teachings of the Guru.
Sandeep Kaur Khalsa and several prominent residents of the village were also present at the gathering.
