A delegation of Rajya Sabha members who recently left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party met Droupadi Murmu earlier today. The delegation included Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Rajinder Gupta, and Ashok Mittal. During the meeting, the members informed the President that the AAP-led government in Punjab was allegedly misusing state machinery to target them as part of political vendetta. They claimed that they were being unfairly singled out following their decision to align with the BJP. Speaking after the meeting, Raghav Chadha launched a sharp attack on AAP through social media. He remarked that the party was no longer behaving like a political organization but rather like a “jilted ex,” indicating bitterness and an inability to accept reality. He further stated that the party appeared to be driven by a strong sense of revenge. Chadha added that a party which once raised concerns about political vendetta was now itself engaging in what he described as its “most toxic form.” He said the delegation had apprised the President of how they were being targeted despite what they described as a constitutionally valid merger into the BJP backed by a two-thirds majority. According to Chadha, the President assured the delegation that constitutional rights and democratic choices would be respected. Notably, this meeting took place just hours before Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was scheduled to meet the President, adding further significance to the development.
