Suryakumar Yadav, captain of the Indian T20 cricket team, has said that while he was not particularly strong in academics, he has achieved remarkable success on the cricket field. Speaking recently, Suryakumar noted that he was never able to score more than 50–60 percent marks during his school and college years. However, he expressed satisfaction at achieving an “80 percent” success rate in cricket, referring to his team’s performance under his leadership. Under Suryakumar’s captaincy, India has played 52 T20 matches and secured victories in 42 of them. This translates to an impressive win percentage of 80 percent. The team has also recently defended its World Cup title during his tenure. In a light-hearted remark, Suryakumar said that although he struggled academically, his achievements in cricket have brought him great happiness. He also credited his family for their unwavering support. He revealed that despite his father being an engineer, there was never any pressure on him to focus solely on academics. Instead, his family consistently encouraged him to pursue sports. Suryakumar further emphasized that his dedication and hard work ensured he never needed a “Plan B” in his career, as he remained fully committed to cricket.
