Three weeks after the alleged suicide of 34-year-old advocate Davinderpal Singh Natt, police have not made any arrests in the case, raising concerns over the pace of the investigation. The deceased was the son of Congress leader Sukhraj Singh Natt. Davinderpal Singh Natt died on March 29 after allegedly shooting himself at his residence. Serious allegations have been levelled against a prominent Chandigarh-based builder and his two sons in connection with the case. Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Binder Pal Mittal, associated with Sushma Buildtech Limited, Chandigarh, along with his sons Prateek Mittal and Bharat Mittal. According to Bathinda SP (City) Narendra Singh, all bank accounts of the accused have been frozen. Additionally, a Look-Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against them through the Bureau of Immigration. Police teams are reportedly conducting continuous raids to apprehend the accused. Before taking the extreme step, Davinderpal Singh had recorded a video and left behind a suicide note. In the note, he alleged that he had invested ₹4 crore of his own money and approximately ₹6–7 crore belonging to his friends—amounting to nearly ₹10 crore—with the accused builders. He claimed that the money was not being returned, which caused him severe mental distress and ultimately led to his death. Notably, the victim’s family had initially refused to perform the last rites, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The cremation was carried out on April 6 only after police assured swift and fair action. However, even after an additional 14 days have passed since then, no arrests have been made, leading to growing disappointment among the family members.
