In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a drug-free state, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has dismantled a drug trafficking module by arresting three individuals and recovering a large quantity of narcotics from their possession. According to Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police, Punjab, the arrested accused have been identified as Partap Singh, a resident of Village Sursingh Wala in Ferozepur; Ajaypal Singh, a resident of Village Kohala in Amritsar; and Jobandeep Singh, a resident of Village Khiala Kalan in Amritsar. Police teams recovered 6 kilograms of heroin and 6 kilograms of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) from the accused. In addition, a black-colored Splendor motorcycle (PB02FE1185) and a white-colored Activa scooter (PB02ET8995), allegedly used for transporting the narcotics, have also been seized. Preliminary investigations have revealed that two of the arrested individuals, Partap Singh and Ajaypal Singh, were in direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler. The accused were reportedly receiving drug consignments smuggled across the international border using drones. The consignments were being dropped in the fenced areas near villages Atalgarh and Rattan in Amritsar. The accused would then collect these consignments and distribute the narcotics further within the state. Sharing operational details, the DGP said that the CI Amritsar team had received specific intelligence indicating that the accused had recently received a large drug consignment via drone and were on their way to deliver it to their associate, Jobandeep Singh, near the water tank at Shamshan Ghat in Village Padhri. Acting promptly on this information, police teams conducted a raid at the указан location and successfully apprehended all three suspects. The entire consignment of 6 kg heroin and 6 kg ICE was recovered during the operation. Further investigations are currently underway to uncover both backward and forward linkages of the network and to expose the entire drug trafficking nexus. Police officials have indicated that more arrests are likely in the coming days. In this connection, a case has been registered under FIR No. 10 dated February 23, 2026, under sections 21, 22, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at the State Special Operation Cell Police Station in Amritsar.
