Posters Against Bhupesh Baghel Surface in Raja Warring’s Home District Ahead of Muktsar Visit

Political activity intensified in Sri Muktsar Sahib after posters opposing Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel appeared across the city ahead of his scheduled visit. Sri Muktsar Sahib is the home district of Punjab Congress president Raja Warring, making the development politically significant. Several posters carrying slogans such as “Remove Raja and Baghel, Save Congress” and “Bhupesh Baghel Go Back” were put up at different locations in the city. At the same time, posters supporting former Punjab Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi were also displayed. These posters carried the message: “Rahul Gandhi Ji, hear the voice of Punjabis, bring Channi and let us form the Congress government.” Bhupesh Baghel was scheduled to visit Muktsar on Monday to hold a meeting with Congress leaders and party workers from the district. However, before his arrival, the protest banners and flex boards were installed in several parts of the city late Sunday night and again on Monday morning. After receiving information about the posters, authorities removed most of the flex boards from public places. However, reports indicated that some posters were still visible at a few locations. Meanwhile, Bhupesh Baghel’s scheduled visit to Muktsar on Monday has been cancelled for the time being. The cancellation has triggered widespread political speculation and discussions in Punjab’s political circles.
