Rahul Gandhi Vows Action Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar, Modi and Shah Over Vote Theft Allegations

02 Nov, 2026 01:03 PM

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah that they would face legal action over allegations of vote theft. He also claimed that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would eventually be removed from his position and sent to jail on charges of treason.

Addressing a large gathering at the INDIA bloc's rally against alleged electoral irregularities at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said the massive public turnout had sent a strong message to the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the Chief Election Commissioner.

He asserted that those allegedly involved in manipulating elections should not assume they could escape legal consequences.

Referring to Amit Shah's earlier statement that Narendra Modi was not going anywhere, Rahul Gandhi said, "Amit Shah had said that Narendra Modi was not going anywhere. I want to tell him that Narendra Modi cannot go anywhere. Even if he wants to leave, we will not let him go."

Targeting the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, the Congress leader said they should understand that after taking up the issue against Gyanesh Kumar, the opposition would also pursue action against them.

"Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, understand this clearly. After Gyanesh Kumar, we will stand against you as well. Legal action will be taken against you and Narendra Modi for the votes you have allegedly stolen," he said.

Raising People's Voice Is My Duty: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi also spoke about his sense of responsibility towards the people of the country, saying that raising their voice was his duty.

He said that if anyone asked him about his religion, his response would be that speaking up for the people of India was his religion.

Highlighting the participation of a large number of people at the rally, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said the gathering represented much more than the voices of political parties and their leaders.

According to him, it reflected the concerns and aspirations of young people, farmers and labourers, who were determined to protect India's democratic system and Constitution.

"This is not the voice of any political party or its leaders. It is the voice of the youth, farmers and workers. It is declaring that we will not allow democracy and the Constitution to be destroyed in India," he said.

Taking another swipe at the government, Rahul Gandhi maintained that no individual, regardless of how much power or money they possessed, could be bigger than the Constitution.

The INDIA bloc's rally, held at Ramlila Maidan on November 1, was organised to protest against alleged electoral irregularities and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
