Preliminary Probe Links US to Deadly Missile Attack on School in Iran’s Minab

A preliminary military investigation has reportedly held the United States responsible for a missile strike that hit an elementary school in the Iranian city of Minab. The probe found that the attack occurred due to the use of outdated targeting data, which led to the school being mistakenly identified as a military facility. According to the investigation conducted by the United States Central Command, the school building was targeted on February 28 with a Tomahawk cruise missile. At the time of the strike, US forces were carrying out operations against an Iranian naval base located near the school. Officials said the base had previously been part of the same campus area. The investigation indicated that the command relied on older intelligence provided by agencies, which incorrectly identified the school building as a military base. As a result, the missile strike hit the educational facility instead of the intended target. Iranian authorities stated that the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 175 people, including more than 160 children. The incident has drawn widespread concern due to the high number of civilian casualties. US officials said the investigation into the strike is still ongoing. Authorities are examining why the outdated intelligence data was not verified before the missile was launched and whether additional safeguards should have been in place to prevent such an error.
