Satiakr Yojana Second Instalment: Punjab Government to Transfer Funds to 36.87 Lakh Women

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will release the second instalment of financial assistance under the ‘Mavan Dhian Satikar Yojana’ on Thursday, October 1, 2026. More than 36 lakh women are set to receive over Rs 1,260 crore directly in their bank accounts.
A state-level event is being organised at Goindwal Sahib, where Chief Minister Mann will release three months of financial assistance to 36,87,677 women registered under the scheme.
Under the latest disbursement, women belonging to the general category will receive Rs 3,000 each, while women from the Scheduled Caste category will receive Rs 4,500 each.
With this payment, the Punjab government will have transferred a total of Rs 2,562.33 crore to beneficiaries registered under the scheme. The scheme currently covers 73.99 lakh women across the state.
The ‘Mavan Dhian Satikar Yojana’ is among the Punjab government’s major women-focused welfare initiatives and was introduced to provide direct financial assistance to eligible women. The government has been highlighting direct-benefit welfare schemes as part of its broader welfare programme.
The first instalment had already been transferred to beneficiaries. Following the initial disbursement, the government also began the process of adding eligible women to the beneficiary database.
The latest transfer comes as Punjab moves towards the 2027 Assembly elections. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has been highlighting its welfare schemes and government programmes as part of its public outreach.
At the same time, the government faces financial pressures associated with maintaining regular budgetary allocations for various welfare commitments. The latest disbursement represents a significant direct-cash transfer in terms of both the amount involved and the number of beneficiaries covered.
At the Goindwal Sahib event, the Chief Minister is expected to highlight the government’s women-focused initiatives and its efforts to expand the reach of direct welfare assistance to families across Punjab.
