Punjabi Businessman Killed in Edmonton After Resisting Liquor Theft Attempt

A 48-year-old Punjabi businessman was killed in Edmonton, Alberta, after he reportedly tried to stop a young man from stealing liquor from his store. The deceased has been identified as Sukhjit Singh Randhawa, the owner of a liquor store. According to police, the incident took place late at night in the area of 112 Avenue and 82 Street in Edmonton. The suspect allegedly picked up two bottles of liquor from the store and attempted to leave without paying. Randhawa reportedly acted quickly and used a remote control to lock the store’s door as the young man tried to leave. Angered by the move, the suspect allegedly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his death. Since the door had been locked, the suspect was unable to flee the scene. Police arrived shortly afterward and arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Butler at the location. A murder case has been registered against him. The incident has once again raised concerns among business owners in the area. Local businesspeople said they had experienced some relief from threats and violence in recent times, but the latest incident has left them deeply shaken. Business owners have urged the government to take stronger measures to ensure their safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
