Gangster Hari Chand, alias Hari Boxer, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to the Haryana Special Task Force (STF). He was taken into custody on Saturday following inputs shared by Indian agencies.
Hari Boxer, son of Girdhari Lal and Dillo Devi, belongs to Chhatarpura village under Basdayal police station in Rajasthan's Kotputli-Behror district. He was associated with boxing in Rajasthan and also worked as a coach before entering the world of crime.
His first reported involvement in a criminal case dates back to 2010, when a case was registered against him following a personal dispute in his village.
Left India in 2023, Became Active in Bishnoi Gang
According to the STF, Hari Boxer left India in 2023 and subsequently came into contact with associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, eventually becoming an active member.
He fled India on April 25, 2023, boarding a flight from Delhi airport to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
After leaving the country, seven cases involving extortion and attempted murder were registered against him. A Red Corner Notice was also issued against him in 2024.
Wanted in 15 Criminal Cases
Overall, Hari Boxer is wanted by the police in 15 criminal cases. He is allegedly involved in several serious offences, including murder, targeted killings, attempted murder and extortion across Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh and Rajasthan.
His passport has already been seized by the authorities.
Name Linked to Firing at Rohit Shetty's House
Hari Boxer's name also surfaced in connection with the firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence on February 1 this year.
A few hours after the shooting, a social media post appeared mentioning the names of Hari Boxer and Harman Sandhu. The post was shared by Shubham Lonkar and Arzu Bishnoi, who are associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Notably, Shubham Lonkar is also an accused in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddique.
The detention of Hari Boxer in the US follows inputs provided by Indian agencies as authorities continue efforts to trace individuals allegedly linked to organised criminal networks operating across borders.
