Meet Hayer Emerges Sole Candidate for PCA Secretary Post

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Member of Parliament from Sangrur representing the Aam Aadmi Party, is set to become the new secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). The 36-year-old leader was the only candidate to file a nomination for the post, as no other nominations were submitted before the deadline that ended on Wednesday. His name was proposed by the Gurdaspur Cricket Association, and the official announcement regarding his appointment is expected to be made on March 21. The position of PCA secretary has been vacant since July 25, 2025, when Kulwant Singh, an MLA from Mohali, resigned from the role citing other responsibilities. AAP’s Growing Influence in PCA With Meet Hayer set to assume the role, leaders associated with the Aam Aadmi Party will hold all key positions in the Punjab Cricket Association. The current PCA president, Amarjeet Singh, previously served as the secretary and spokesperson of the party’s Punjab unit. Similarly, the association’s vice-president Deepak Bali is the state general secretary of the AAP. Joint secretary Sidhant Sharma serves as a lawyer for the Punjab government in the Supreme Court of India, while treasurer Sunil Gupta is the deputy chairman of the Punjab State Planning Board. Experience in Sports Administration Meet Hayer also brings experience in sports administration. He previously served as the Sports Minister in the Punjab government, which has given him administrative exposure in the sports sector. His expected appointment as PCA secretary is likely to further strengthen the influence of AAP leaders in the state’s cricket administration.
