ISI-Backed BKI Module Unearthed in Punjab; Key Operative Held

Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, in a joint operation with SBS Nagar Police, has busted an ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module allegedly being operated by foreign-based handlers. A key operative has been arrested and an 86-P hand grenade has been recovered, according to the information provided. The operation is believed to have prevented a planned attack. Preliminary investigation has indicated that the arrested accused allegedly received the grenade from a DLB near Adampur in Jalandhar on the directions of foreign-based handlers. Following the recovery, an FIR has been registered at Sadar Nawanshahr Police Station in SBS Nagar under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosive Substances Act. Investigators are now working to establish the links of the foreign-based handlers and identify the local support network associated with the module. Further investigation is also underway to trace both the forward and backward linkages and uncover the wider terror network. Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and organised crime across the state while ensuring peace and public safety.
