India has advised its citizens living in France, as well as those planning to travel to the European country, to remain vigilant and exercise caution amid continuing unrest, violent clashes, and local curfews imposed in certain areas.
In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the Indian Embassy in France urged Indian nationals to avoid large gatherings and crowded locations where demonstrations are taking place. The mission also advised people to follow instructions issued by local authorities to ensure their safety.
The advisory highlighted the recent developments in France and the imposition of local curfews in some regions. It called on Indian citizens to stay alert and take appropriate precautions while moving around affected areas.
The notice comes at a time when France is witnessing widespread protests and disturbances. The demonstrations reportedly began with student protests in public schools over school-related conditions and later expanded into broader anti-government protests linked to concerns over inflation and the rising cost of living.
The Indian mission also encouraged citizens to remain informed through local news reports and official updates published on the French government’s website, gouvernement.fr.
In addition, Indian nationals were advised to monitor public transportation updates through the website of RATP, the state-owned public transport operator that serves the Paris region, to avoid potential travel disruptions.
The embassy further stated that, in case of an emergency, Indian citizens may contact the Embassy of India in Paris or the Consulate General of India in Marseille for assistance.
The advisory underscores the importance of staying informed and adhering to local guidance as authorities continue to respond to demonstrations and public order issues in different parts of France.
