Bangkok Pub Fire Kills 27, Several Others Injured in Early Morning Blaze

A devastating fire at a pub in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, claimed the lives of 27 people early Monday morning, while several others sustained injuries. Authorities said firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after an extensive firefighting operation. According to rescue officials, the fire broke out around midnight. Videos shared on social media showed flames erupting from the main entrance of the pub, located in the northern part of Bangkok, as frightened patrons rushed outside to escape. Thick black smoke was seen rising into the sky during the incident. Thailand's Prime Minister, Charanvirakul, visited the scene and confirmed that 27 people had lost their lives. He said several injured victims had been admitted to hospitals for treatment and added that authorities had launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials stated that firefighters took approximately half an hour to completely extinguish the blaze. Images from inside the pub after the incident showed burnt furniture, including chairs and tables, along with extensive damage to the interior of the building. Thailand has witnessed similar tragedies in the past. In 2022, a fire at a music pub in the eastern part of the country killed 14 people. Earlier, on January 1, 2009, a fire at Bangkok's Santika Night Club during New Year celebrations claimed 66 lives and injured more than 200 people. That incident was reportedly caused by fireworks set off inside the nightclub.
