A delegation of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum against the Election Commission of India over the issue of the party’s registration.
The delegation was led by senior party leader Manpreet Singh Ayali and Member of Parliament Sarabjit Singh Khalsa. During the meeting, the delegation raised objections to the Election Commission’s decision to stop the registration of the party.
After the meeting, Manpreet Singh Ayali said the Election Commission had cited concerns related to the security of the country while withholding the party’s registration. He described the decision as completely unjustified.
Ayali further alleged that several political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), consider Waris Punjab De a potential challenge in the electoral arena. According to him, this is the reason these political forces are behind efforts to prevent the party from getting registered.
The delegation urged Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to take note of the party’s concerns and the issues raised in the memorandum regarding the Election Commission’s decision.
Ayali maintained that the party’s growing popularity was causing concern among rival political forces. He alleged that a conspiracy was being created to prevent Akali Dal Waris Punjab De from entering the electoral process through formal registration.
The meeting comes amid preparations for the upcoming political and electoral activities in Punjab, with the party seeking to challenge the decision concerning its registration.
