India and Pakistan Exchange Protests After Naval Vessel Collision in Arabian Sea

India has rejected Pakistan’s allegations regarding the recent collision between an Indian Navy warship and a Pakistani naval vessel in the North Arabian Sea, describing Islamabad’s response as “usual prevarication.”
The incident involved the Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata and the Pakistani naval vessel PNS Hunain. The collision occurred on Tuesday evening, leading both countries to lodge official protests over the matter.
Earlier, India summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires on Wednesday and conveyed its protest against what it described as the “unacceptable and unprofessional” conduct of the Pakistani vessel during the incident.
Pakistan, however, responded by alleging that the Indian warship had carried out a “highly provocative and unacceptable action” within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) during the country's SEASPARK-26 naval exercise.
Addressing the issue, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed Pakistan’s claims and reiterated India’s position.
“We have seen Pakistan’s response to the protest we had lodged. It is the usual prevarication that we expected. We reject the allegations and insinuations contained therein,” Jaiswal said.
The exchange of accusations comes amid heightened diplomatic attention following the maritime incident, with both sides maintaining contrasting versions of events. While India has objected to the conduct of the Pakistani vessel, Pakistan has alleged that the Indian warship acted provocatively in waters linked to its naval exercise.
The collision and the subsequent diplomatic protests have added another point of contention to India-Pakistan relations, with both governments formally registering their concerns through diplomatic channels.
As of now, both countries continue to stand by their respective positions regarding the circumstances surrounding the collision between INS Kolkata and PNS Hunain in the North Arabian Sea.
