Shubman Gill to Lead India in ODI Series Against Afghanistan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be played next month. The team was finalized after a meeting of the men’s selection committee held in Guwahati on Tuesday. Senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been included in the ODI squad for the series against Afghanistan. The matches will take place after the conclusion of IPL 2026 and are being viewed as an important step in India’s preparations for next year’s ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill has been named captain for the ODI series. The squad also features experienced players such as Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav. Young talents including Nitish Reddy, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey have also earned places in the team. The BCCI also announced India’s squad for the Test match against Afghanistan. Shubman Gill will captain the Test side as well, while KL Rahul has been appointed vice-captain.
