Amit Shah to Address Rally in Punjab on March 14, Preparations Underway

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Punjab in the third week of this month. According to available information, he will arrive in the state on March 14 and address a public rally in Moga. In view of the visit, the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations. To review arrangements for the rally, an important meeting has been convened in Chandigarh at 4 PM today. The meeting will be chaired by Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, with participation from working president Ashwani Sharma and other senior leaders. It is noteworthy that Punjab is scheduled to hold Assembly elections in 2027. Political observers believe that Amit Shah’s rally could mark the beginning of the BJP’s election campaign in the state. The visit comes within a short gap of around one and a half months since another senior BJP leader visited Punjab. Earlier, on February 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Jalandhar on the occasion of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji’s birth anniversary. There is also speculation that the BJP may contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab independently. Discussions regarding a possible alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal are ongoing, but no leader has made any official statement on the matter so far. The situation is expected to become clearer as the elections approach.
