Joint Operation Cracks Grenade Attack Case in Punjab, ISI Link Suspected

In a major breakthrough, the rural police of Amritsar, in a joint operation with Faridkot district police, have solved the grenade attack case reported at Bhindi Saida police station. A total of six accused have been arrested, and two pistols have been recovered during the operation. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the module involved in the attack was allegedly supported by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accused were reportedly in contact with a Pakistan-based handler operating from abroad, who was directing terrorist activities in Punjab. According to the investigation, on the intervening night of March 29–30, 2026, the accused procured hand grenades, conducted reconnaissance, and executed the attack. The module had been radicalised and was motivated to target police establishments, with assurances of significant financial rewards for carrying out the act. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act. Further investigations are underway to establish both forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the entire network involved. The information was shared by the Director General of Police, Punjab Police, through an official social media post. The DGP reiterated that the police remain committed to ensuring peace and harmony in the region.
