India Urges Citizens to Postpone Travel to Iran as Regional Tensions Escalate

The Embassy of India in Iran has issued a fresh advisory for Indian nationals amid growing instability and escalating security concerns in the country. The advisory urges Indian citizens to postpone travel to Iran until the security situation improves. According to the advisory, Indian nationals who are already in Iran have been advised to consider leaving the country temporarily using available flight options. The embassy has also urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from crowded areas, remain indoors whenever possible, and closely monitor the evolving security situation. The advisory states that Indian citizens planning to visit Iran for any purpose should defer their travel until there is a noticeable improvement in the security environment. Those currently residing in Iran have been encouraged to exercise the highest level of caution if they choose to remain in the country. The embassy further advised Indian nationals to stay updated by closely following news reports, avoid locations along Iran’s southern coastline where heightened military activity has been observed, and strictly comply with instructions issued by local authorities. In addition, the embassy has asked all Indian citizens in Iran who have not yet registered their details with the mission to do so immediately. They have also been encouraged to regularly monitor the embassy’s official website and social media platforms for the latest updates and guidance. The advisory comes as tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated once again following military strikes carried out by both sides in the Middle East. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, said that Iran has suspended the implementation of its obligations under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States, alleging that Washington had failed to honor its commitments under the agreement. Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces had completed another round of military operations against Iran. According to CENTCOM, more than 50,000 U.S. troops stationed across the Middle East remain on heightened alert. In a statement posted on social media platform X, CENTCOM said that during the eighth consecutive night of operations, U.S. forces successfully targeted Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, as well as missile and drone storage sites with the objective of reducing Iran’s military capabilities. CENTCOM also stated that U.S. forces targeted elements of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), alleging that the group had launched attacks against U.S. service members in Jordan on July 17.
