Commonwealth Games: Sharmila Dhankhar Wins India’s Second Gold Medal

India’s Sharmila Dhankhar won the gold medal in the Women’s Para Shot Put F57 event at the Commonwealth Games on Monday, securing the country’s second gold medal of the ongoing competition. She achieved the feat with a season-best throw of 9.81 metres. In the same event, India’s Shilpa K. Shaila claimed the bronze medal, adding another podium finish to the country’s campaign. With these performances, India’s overall medal tally has reached 10, placing the country eighth in the medal standings. Australia continues to lead the table with a total of 59 medals, including 26 gold medals. In other events, Sarvesh Kushare won the silver medal in the high jump, becoming the first Indian to secure a silver medal in the discipline at the Commonwealth Games. Ajay Babu also earned a silver medal in the 79 kg weightlifting category. Meanwhile, Bindyarani Devi won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category, while Gyaneshwari Yadav secured a silver medal in the 53 kg category, further strengthening India’s medal tally at the Games.
