Election Commission Announces ₹6,000 One-Time Honorarium for SIR Staff

The Election Commission has directed that all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Supervisors (BLSs) engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise will receive a one-time honorarium of ₹6,000. The order was issued on Tuesday night. According to the Election Commission, the decision applies to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and all other states and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision exercise is currently underway. The Commission said the one-time payment has been approved in view of the substantial workload involved in carrying out the SIR exercise. The honorarium will be provided in addition to the officials' annual remuneration. The Special Intensive Revision exercise is also being conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, and Uttarakhand. Officials working at the block level in these states and Union Territories who are engaged in the SIR exercise will also be eligible to receive the one-time honorarium.
