Operation Sindoor Remembered as Nation Marks Pahalgam Attack Anniversary

The first anniversary of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam will be observed on April 22, with security heightened across tourist locations in Kashmir ahead of the occasion. The attack, which took place on April 22, 2025, had claimed the lives of 26 people in the Baisaran Valley, located about 6 km from Pahalgam and approximately 95 km from Srinagar. In view of the anniversary, security agencies have intensified vigilance across the region. All forces have been directed to remain alert and prevent any potential terrorist threats, particularly around tourist destinations. Amid these developments, the Indian Army issued a strong message on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, warning terrorists and their handlers. The post, accompanied by an image featuring vermilion (sindoor) and the map of India, was linked to the theme of Operation Sindoor. The Army stated, “India has not forgotten. When the limits of humanity are crossed, an appropriate response is delivered. Justice has been done. India stands united. Some lines must never be crossed.” Following the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 6–7, 2025, at around 1:05 am. The operation, which lasted approximately 25 minutes, targeted nine आतंकवादी hideouts across seven cities. The mission was named Operation Sindoor. Authorities continue to maintain a high level of preparedness as the region approaches the anniversary of the tragic incident.
