Food Delivery Gets Expensive as Zomato Increases Platform Charges

Ordering food online has become more expensive as Zomato has increased its platform fee for food delivery services. According to media reports, the company has raised the per-order platform fee from ₹12.5 to ₹14.9. This marks an increase of ₹2.40 per order, translating to a rise of approximately 19.2 percent. As a result, customers will now have to pay more for each order placed through the platform. The revised platform fee has come into effect from March 20, 2026. The hike is expected to directly impact consumers who frequently use online food delivery services. The increase in platform charges comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which have reportedly disrupted gas supplies and affected LPG availability. This development has contributed to rising operational costs, ultimately leading to higher charges for customers.
