Amritsar Municipal Commissioner Holds Review Meeting on Security of Dr. Ambedkar Statues

Amritsar : In light of recent incidents of vandalism, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh chaired a high-level review meeting to address the security and maintenance of statues of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Amritsar.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Municipal Corporation, police administration, and representatives of the Valmiki community. Key attendees included Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh, Executive Engineer S.P. Singh, S.D.O. Gurpreet Singh, DCP (Law & Order) Alam Vijay Singh, ACP (D) Jatinder, DSP Neeraj Kumar, Dhoona Sahib Trust Chairman O.P. Gabbar, Municipal Union President Vinod Bitta, and community members Surinder Tona, Keval Kumar, and Baba Bhandari Nath.

Commissioner Aulakh expressed concern over recent incidents in which miscreants attempted to tamper with statues of the Constitution's chief architect. In response, the Municipal Corporation has begun installing protective iron grills around these statues throughout the city.

During the meeting, several constructive suggestions were put forward by police officials and Valmiki community representatives. The Commissioner directed municipal officers to implement these suggestions without delay, emphasizing that no negligence would be tolerated regarding the security of such significant monuments.

Additionally, instructions were issued to the police department to strengthen security measures around the statues to prevent any future acts of vandalism.
