PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Lakhisarai Stampede, Announces Financial Assistance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the unfortunate stampede that took place in Bihar’s Lakhisarai on Monday. The incident claimed the lives of seven women, while more than 23 people were injured. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred on the route from Ashok Dham railway station towards the temple. Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives. In a post shared through the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) X handle, he said that the news of people losing their lives in the incident had caused him deep anguish. The Prime Minister conveyed his sympathies to the families of those who died and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident. PM Narendra Modi has also announced ex-gratia assistance for the victims of the Lakhisarai incident. The next of kin of each deceased person will receive ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Those injured in the incident will be provided ₹50,000 each as financial assistance. The announcement is aimed at providing support to the families affected by the unfortunate incident in Lakhisarai.
