Sanjay Verma Murder Case: Haryana STF Arrests Abohar Man Wanted for ₹5 Lakh Reward

Nearly two weeks after two alleged shooters were arrested from Jodhpur, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has arrested another accused in the daylight murder of Abohar clothing showroom owner Sanjay Verma.
The accused, identified as Shakti Kumar, a resident of Abohar, was arrested from Hisar on Saturday. Punjab Police had announced a ₹5 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest, sources said.
According to the sources, the STF team acted on specific information and intercepted Shakti near the bypass flyover on Rajgarh Road in Hisar. Police allegedly recovered an illegal .32-bore pistol and three live cartridges from his possession.
Shakti is accused of helping the two alleged shooters escape after they shot Sanjay Verma. Reports said he allegedly provided them a lift following the attack.
Sanjay Verma Murder
Sanjay Verma was shot dead in broad daylight on July 7, 2025. The attack took place as he was getting out of his car and walking towards his showroom, when the assailants allegedly opened fire on him. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting.
The murder had created an atmosphere of fear across Abohar. During the subsequent investigation, Punjab Police arrested several people allegedly linked to the crime.
Two accused, Ram Rattan and Jaspreet Singh, were killed in a police encounter, while several others were arrested from Punjab and other states.
Two alleged shooters, Rajinder Billa and Jaskaran alias Karan Katta, were arrested from Jodhpur by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) on September 20.
Shakti Kumar Had Been Absconding
Shakti Kumar had remained on the run since the murder. Following his arrest in Hisar, Punjab Police may seek his production warrant to bring him to Punjab for further questioning and investigation, according to the information available.
The investigation into the murder case is continuing, with authorities looking into the alleged roles of the accused and others connected with the crime.
