Historic Decision on MSP Reflects PM Modi’s Farmer-First Vision : Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has hailed the Union Cabinet’s decision to increase the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Kharif crops as a transformational step for India’s farmers. He said this decision reaffirms the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to India's annadatas and sets a new benchmark in farmer welfare.

Chugh stated, “For the past 11 years, PM Narendra Modi has not just governed, he has served as the true Pradhan Sevak of the people. From day one, his government has worked to ensure dignity, prosperity, and security for farmers, women, the poor, and the youth. The MSP hike is not just an economic adjustment — it is a declaration of respect for our farmers.”

He added that under PM Modi’s decisive and dynamic leadership, India has moved from being called part of the ‘Fragile Five’ to becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy. Today, India is not just rising — it is shining on the global stage.

Chugh said, “This hike in MSP, especially for crops like bajra, tur, urad, sesamum, ragi, and cotton, will ensure farmers earn at least 1.5 times their cost of production. It is not just about input cost, it's about honoring their contribution to the nation.”

Chugh emphasized that this is not the first time the Modi government has demonstrated its dedication to agricultural prosperity. He cited the strategic policy decisions in the basmati rice sector as a shining example of this commitment. “From removing the Minimum Export Price to promoting GI-tagged basmati rice globally and reinstating the RoDTEP benefits, the Modi government ensured that Indian farmers could access global markets confidently and competitively. These decisions weren’t just about trade; they were about farmer dignity and global opportunity.”

He emphasized that these 11 years have redefined India’s development story — from toilets to dignity, from Ujjwala to women’s empowerment, from PM-KISAN to farm resilience, from Digital India to global dominance. India’s growth under PM Modi is inclusive, sustainable, and deeply rooted in the spirit of social justice.

“PM Modi’s governance mantra — Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas — is not a slogan, but the soul of New India. Today’s farmer is not a petitioner, but a proud stakeholder in the journey of Viksit Bharat,” Chugh concluded.
