Senior leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), including spokesperson Saurav Das and national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, were detained by the Delhi Police on Tuesday morning after attempting to stage a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. According to law enforcement sources, the police action followed an attempt by the activists to breach the security cordon at the venue. Confirming the development, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to state that other team members, including party leader Ajinkya Shinde, had also been taken into custody by the police. Dipke posted, "Cockroaches with the Tiranga sneaked into Jantar Mantar early this morning before they were picked up by Delhi Police." Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he further wrote, "You cannot denotify the resistance." Footage shared online captured CJP members scaling the locked gates of Jantar Mantar and entering the premises while chanting slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," shortly before police personnel intervened and apprehended them. The detentions occurred in the wake of planned demonstrations called by various organizations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, opposing alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. To maintain law and order and prevent unauthorized gatherings following the revocation of Jantar Mantar's designated protest site status, heavy security forces remain deployed across the capital's central district.
