Main Shooter Arrested in Kabaddi Promoter Rana Balachauria Murder Case
In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested the main shooter involved in the murder of Mohali-based Kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria. The आरोपी, identified as Aditya alias Makhan, was apprehended from Agartala in Tripura during a joint operation conducted with central agencies and the Tripura Police. Rana Balachauria was killed on December 15, 2025, in Village Sohana, Sector-79, in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Investigations have revealed that the murder was a premeditated conspiracy, allegedly executed under instructions from handlers operating from abroad. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the development in a statement, stating that the AGTF, in coordination with central agencies and Tripura Police, achieved a major success by arresting one of the shooters involved in the sensational killing. He further stated that the accused, along with his associates, carried out the planned हत्या following directions from foreign-based handlers. While other accomplices had already been arrested earlier from Kolkata by the AGTF, Aditya alias Makhan had been absconding and evading arrest until now. Reiterating the state’s stance against organized crime, the DGP emphasized that Punjab Police remains committed to its “zero-tolerance” policy. He added that authorities will continue to pursue offenders, whether they are hiding within the country or abroad, to ensure they face legal consequences for their actions.
