The festival of Hola Mohalla, a symbol of the spirit and grandeur of the Khalsa Panth, commenced today with traditional ceremonies in Punjab. Celebrated over six days in two phases, the first phase of Hola Mohalla has begun at Sri Kiratpur Sahib, while the second phase will take place at Sri Anandpur Sahib. The festival reflects the rich heritage, discipline, and valor associated with Sikh traditions. As per Sikh customs, the opening ceremony took place at Anandgarh Sahib Fort, where five traditional nagaras (large ceremonial drums) were sounded to mark the beginning of the celebrations. This ritual signifies the formal commencement of the festival in accordance with Khalsa traditions. Alongside this, the first phase also witnessed the initiation of the sacred Akhand Path at Gurdwara Patalpuri Sahib in Sri Kiratpur Sahib. The religious recitation will conclude with its Bhog ceremony on March 1. Following this, the second phase of Hola Mohalla will be celebrated from March 2 to March 4 in Sri Anandpur Sahib, a city of great religious importance for Sikhs. Continuing the age-old tradition, the festival was formally inaugurated with the resounding chants of “Jaikaaras” and the beating of five nagaras at Anandgarh Sahib. The ceremony was led by Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. Hola Mohalla remains one of the most significant festivals of the Sikh community, showcasing their cultural pride, unity, and spiritual strength.
