Punjab Police Expose ISI-Linked Arms Smuggling Network, Major Weapons Seized

In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police has busted an ISI-sponsored terrorist and cross-border arms smuggling module in Amritsar. The operation was carried out by the Amritsar Rural Police, which arrested two accused and recovered a cache of illegal weapons. According to police officials, the recovered arms include one AK-47 rifle along with two magazines and 36 live cartridges. In addition, three modern Glock 9mm pistols were also seized from the accused during the operation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspects were in contact with foreign handlers through social media platforms. Authorities stated that the module was also involved in radicalisation and in spreading anti-India and anti-police propaganda. An FIR has been registered in the case at Gharinda Police Station Amritsar under Amritsar Rural jurisdiction. Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace both the backward and forward links of the accused and to dismantle the entire network connected to the module. Providing details about the operation, Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Punjab Police, said the force remains firmly committed to its “zero-tolerance” policy against terrorism, illegal arms trafficking and organised crime. He added that strict action will continue against such activities.
