Prime Minister Narendra Modi Begins Two-Day Visit to Sikkim

Narendra Modi is set to begin his two-day visit to Sikkim starting today. During his visit, he will participate in the closing ceremony of the state’s 50th Statehood Day celebrations. As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore. These projects span several sectors, including education, healthcare, connectivity, infrastructure, tourism, environment, and agriculture, reflecting a comprehensive development plan for the state. Key projects include the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Namchi and a 30-bed hospital in Deorali. Additionally, two double-lane steel bridges will be built over the Teesta River, along with a Civil Services Officers’ Institute in Gangtok. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Gangtok at around 3:00 PM on Monday. Upon arrival, he will hold a roadshow from Libing Helipad to Raj Bhavan (Lok Bhavan), interacting with the public along the route. It is noteworthy that Sikkim completed 50 years of its statehood on May 16, 2025. On that occasion, the Prime Minister had joined the celebrations virtually. The year-long celebrations marking the milestone will conclude on Tuesday with the closing ceremony.
