Air Show in Idaho Cancelled After Mid-Air Collision Between Two US Military Jets

Two EA-18G Growler fighter jets crashed in the United States on Sunday after colliding mid-air during an air show at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. Following the incident, authorities immediately locked down the air base and cancelled all remaining scheduled events. The accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. local time during the “Gunfighter Skies” air show in Idaho. Emergency response teams quickly reached the area after the collision, while thick black smoke was seen rising near the crash site. According to local media reports, the aircraft involved in the incident were two EA-18G Growler fighter jets. After the mid-air collision, both aircraft crashed approximately two miles away from the airfield. Reports stated that the crew members managed to eject safely before the crash. As per an Idaho newspaper report, an announcer at the event informed spectators that all four crew members aboard the two fighter jets had safely exited the aircraft before impact. The United States Navy later confirmed that all four crew members survived after the two military aircraft collided during the aerial demonstration near Mountain Home Air Force Base. Following the incident, officials cancelled all remaining activities scheduled for Sunday as a precautionary measure. The Mountain Home Police Department also confirmed that the base had been placed under lockdown after the crash. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the mid-air collision.
