Robbers Target ICICI Bank ATM in Ludhiana, Escape With Cash After Using Gas Cutter

A major robbery was reported in Ludhiana after unidentified miscreants targeted an ATM of ICICI Bank located on Jalandhar Bypass Road, escaping with cash estimated to be around ₹7 lakh. According to information, the criminals used a gas cutter to break open the ATM machine and fled with four trays filled with cash. The incident created panic in the area as soon as it came to light, and senior police officials rushed to the spot to assess the situation. Preliminary reports indicate that the robbery took place late at night between approximately 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. The suspects reportedly arrived fully prepared, carrying a modern gas cutter and other tools needed to break into the ATM. Officials said that the ATM’s shutter had been closed at night as part of routine security measures. However, the robbers managed to cut through the shutter using the gas cutter and entered the premises. After gaining access, they cut open the ATM machine and removed four trays containing cash, estimated to be around ₹7 lakh. Following the incident, teams from the Ludhiana Police crime branch and the local police station inspected the site. Fingerprint experts were also called to collect possible evidence. Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the ATM and nearby areas to identify the suspects and trace their movements. An investigation into the robbery is underway.
