NEET-UG Admit Cards to Be Released by June 14, Says NTA

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday morning announced a new date for the NEET-UG examination. The examination will now be conducted on Sunday, June 21. The decision comes after the examination was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a paper leak. Earlier, the NEET-UG examination had been conducted on May 3 across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. More than 5,400 examination centres had been set up for the test, and around 22.79 lakh students were scheduled to appear. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government decided to cancel the examination after receiving information about the paper leak on May 12. He stated that the authorities did not want any undeserving candidate to benefit from unfair means. The minister said, “When we came to know about the paper leak on the 12th, we did not want any wrong candidate to be selected. Therefore, we acted responsibly and maintained a zero-tolerance approach. Despite that, this incident occurred, so we decided to cancel the examination.” Dharmendra Pradhan also announced several changes for the upcoming examination. He said the examination fee for the next NEET-UG test would be waived to ensure that students do not face any additional financial burden. According to the revised arrangements, candidates will also have the option to choose their preferred examination city. In addition, the duration of the examination has been extended by 15 minutes. The test will begin at 2 PM and continue until 5:15 PM. The NTA further informed that admit cards for the examination will be made available by June 14.
